Table for one, two, three....

Many of you will be familiar with tiered tables - and probably not in a good way. Traditionally found at Grandma's house covered with a doilie and a ceramic ornament or basket of dusty fake flowers on top - they don't have a particularly good rep in the style stakes.  However, that is definitely changing. On my recent visit to Milan Design week I saw them here there and everywhere  - and not a plate of custard creams in sight!  I have always hated nesting tables, so it has taken a lot of convincing to elevate them to cool product status.  However, the ability to use as one, two or three certainly has its advantages in small spaces and the range of finishes now available certainly enhances their look.

Incorporating the luxury of a marble table top with walnut legs, the Vietri coffee table is a low table in varying sizes enabling different levels and layers.

Around since Grandma's younger days this Ercol nest of tables in elm and beech with a black lacquer are simple and classic.

These nesting tables from West Elm with a marble top and steel box frame are a really good space saving option.

Another marble and steel option are these circular Mera tables from B&B Italia

Although I think my personal faves are the Palette range by another designer I am seeing everywhere at the moment and loving, Jaime Hayon.  No, your eyes do not deceive you - the middle table is stained pink ash!
