Tom Dixon - Milan 2016

DSC03790 Tom Dixon is firmly established as one of Britain's most iconic designers - even the Queen thinks so awarding him an OBE in 2001!  Producing a vast array of homewares, from tables and chairs to tealight holders and more famously lighting, Tom Dixon products grace the interiors of shops, restaurants, offices, hotels - and the list goes on - all over the world.

So there was no doubt that I was going to check out his exhibit at Milan Design Week which was hosted in the beautiful Rotunda della Besana.  It was also the launch of a stunning new product range, Melt, a lighting series resembling hand-blown glass.

The presentation was a collaboration with Caesarstone, a quartz stone manufacturer, displaying four conceptual kitchens referencing the natural elements.  Each kitchen was designed with the colours and materials to reflect the mood of each element.  Tom Dixon also designed the dining areas which were more of a highlight for me.

I particularly loved the Curve pendants (above) that look very sci-fi and are made out of intricately etched metal.

The beautiful brass foiled legs on these Scoop chairs seated around the brass Mass console table instantly add glamour and bling to any dining setting and were a favourite of mine.

There is no doubt that Tom Dixon and his studio continue to produce exquisite items.
