Prepare yourselves readers. I am by no means a fashionista, not at all. And yet when I heard that Matthew Williamson had launched a bespoke furniture range I was excited. He who brought the fashion world a dizzying array of kaleidoscopic prints has now turned his genius to chairs, sofas and tables.
In collaboration with the long established British furniture manufacturer, Duresta, Matthew Williamson has created a classic, yet most definitely contemporary, selection of pieces, masterfully made and extravagantly upholstered.
As you may expect, his instantly recognisable colour palette and prints are what make this collection. Expect marble butterfly fabric on sofas, chairs in electric blue and cranberry, vivid jades and fuschias – if you’ve been wanting a distraction from the neutral tones of scandi-style, then Matthew Williamson brings it!
There are five different ranges, among them is the shamelessly ostentatious Fontaine daybed, or the softer Mirage sofas and chairs.
Unlike a size zero catwalk dress there is something for everyone in this collection. The Tango range nods to mid-century – the Tango sofa in fuschia or chair in jade would look absolutely stunning against the backdrop of a fashionably dark wall.
The must have item, however, is very special indeed. In case you hadn’t noticed, the latest summer season trend this year is anything flamingo, and luckily for us Mr Williamson has created the perfect console table enabling us to remain at the very height of interiors fashion!
The Flamingo wine table, characteristically perched on one antique brass leg, with a feather print lacquered top is beautifully eclectic and is, along with the rest of the range, available exclusively at Harrods.
